Katy Yao
Dr. Katy Yao is a co-founder of the LARC program, a CQI program designed to optimize laboratory-clinic interface to achieve a “leak-proof” HIV viral load cascade. She has helped develop the LARC curriculum and implementation model. Since its launch she has advised 7 countries in program implementation. She is also the director of a laboratory CQI program called SLMTA. The SLMTA program has been implemented in 1300+ laboratories in 56 LMIC countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Oceania. As of December 2020, the program has helped 200 laboratories in 23 countries attain accreditation to international standards. Dr. Yao is a Public Health Educator at US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She has a PhD in education with a focus on instructional design and adult learning.
